Sunday 8th September at the Village Hall

Bring produce between 10.30 am and 1 pm on Sunday (or 4-5 pm on Saturday)

The auction of entries starts at 4 pm

Adult entry fee - 1 per entry (max of 15). It is free for children to enter

Vegetables

Runner bean

Six beans with stalks.  Judged on snap test, uniformity and quality

Onions

Three of uniform size. Cut rootlets completely off. Trim tops to 2.5 cm (1 in), folded and tied.  Judged on skin, uniformity and quality

Potatoes (any colour)

Four potatoes of a uniform size and colour, each weighing around 200g   (7 oz). Judged on colour, uniformity and quality

Carrots

Three of uniform size with tops trimmed to 7.5 cm (3 ins).  Judged on colour, uniformity and quality

Courgettes

Three of approx. 15 cm (6 ins).  Judged on equal size and quality

Salad tomatoes

Three of one variety of round tomato of any colour. Keep green bit on. Judged on equal size, taste and colour

Cherry tomatoes

Three of one variety of small tomato of any colour. Keep green bit on. Judged on equal size, taste and colour

Sweetcorn

Minimum of one.  Judged on colour, uniformity and quality

Longest runner bean

 

Biggest marrow

Judged on weight, length and circumference

Squash or pumpkin

Judged on weight and quality

Comedy vegetable or fruit

 

Mixed vegetable box

A display of at least three types of vegetable.  Judged on quality

Any other veg

Minimum of 1 - for example, beetroot.  Judged on quality

 

Fruit

Cooking apples

Three of one variety.  Judged on equal size, skin and quality

Dessert apples

Three of one variety.  Judged on equal size, skin and quality

Soft fruit

One small dish with maximum of 20 fruits of the same type.  Judged on taste, uniformity and quality

Stone fruit

Three of one variety, for example, plums, damsons, cherries or greengages.  Judged on skin, uniformity and quality

Any other fruit

Minimum of one - for example, kumquat.  Judged on quality

 

Flowers

Large flower arrangement

Maximum size 90 cm (36 ins) x 60 cm (24 ins).  Only garden grown flowers or greenery allowed and oasis must be used.

Small flower arrangement

Maximum size 30 cm (12 ins) x 20 cm (8 ins).  Only garden grown flowers or greenery allowed and oasis must be used. 

Scented bloom

Minimum of one.  For example, roses, sweet peas. 

Single bloom

Any variety and can be multi-headed.  For example, gladioli.

Children’s

Decorated biscuits

Three biscuits with any decoration.  Judged on uniformity, decoration and taste

Cupcakes

Three decorated cakes using own recipe.  Judged on uniformity, decoration and taste

Small flower arrangement

Maximum size 30 cm (12 ins) x 20 cm (8 ins).  Any flowers or greenery can be used.  Props can be included.  Judged on design and detail

Garden scene

Can be drawn or constructed from anything the young artist wants to use. Judged on design and details

 

Produce

Victoria sponge

Use own recipe with only jam in the middle.  Judged on appearance and taste

Scones

Five scones, either plain or with fruit.  Judged on uniformity, appearance and taste

Sweet pies or bakes

Own recipe – for example, fruit cakes or tarts, cupcakes, biscuits.  Judged on uniformity, appearance and taste

Savoury pies or bakes

Own recipe - for example, quiche, cheese straws, pasties.  Judged on uniformity, appearance and taste

Plain white loaf

Homemade loaf, either tin or free-form and machines can be used.  Judged on quality of bake, appearance and taste

Jar of soft fruit jam

Any soft fruit can be used.  Judged on degree of set, colour, clarity and taste

Jar of stone fruit jam

Any stone fruit can be used.  Judged on degree of set, colour, clarity and taste

Jar of chutney

Any ingredients can be used.  Judged on degree of set, texture and taste

Jar of other preserves

For example, honey, home-made curds or marmalades.  Judged on degree of set, colour and taste

Fruit spirit

Shop bought spirit with fruit added, e.g. sloe gin.  List all ingredients.  Judged on fruitiness, colour, clarity and taste

 

Crafts and art

Photo competition – Animals

Mounted and up to 25 cm (10 ins) x 20 cm (8 ins)

Painting or drawing

Any subject and produced by the entrant

Item made from wool or fabric

Homemade item from wool or fabric.

Other craft items

Any homemade item, for example from clay, glass or paper

Proceeds from the Garden Produce Show goes to maintain

Uffington Village Hall
