The current alerts are for door to door scams. Don’t respond to scrap metal dealers or offers of garden clearance! Diesel is being stolen in the area. Ensure your vehicle’s filler cap is locked and park in a visible area or put your vehicle in the garage.
REMEMBER TO KEEP WINDOWS, SHEDS AND GARAGES LOCKED
Please keep an eye out for early morning intruders looking in garages and sheds. Sheds need to be far more securely protected! Please consider wire mesh at windows, security lights and a simple door alarm. Remember, things such as spades can help burglars force their way into your house - keep them secure. Break-ins in Uffington and Langtoft and the theft of vehicle number plates continue.
Local vandalism has been reported and hopefully dealt with! Distraction thefts involving elderly are on the increase - please don't open the door to anyone you don't know. Anglia Water have had a van and coats stolen so be extra vigilant and ASK for identity if ‘the water board’ call!
Don't have ANY work done by cold-callers at the door - one local lady was taken to her bank to draw out £5000 for bad work done while she wasn't at home after saying she MIGHT have work done later!
Wide screen flat LCD TV's are being targeted - don't leave yours in an obvious position and don't leave keys in or near the back door - it makes it easy for them to get away with large items!
Destroy or disguise all new packaging by the bin - don't advertise all of your new expensive items!
Your Neighbourhood Watch coordinators are Mark Hassall and Ken Otter. Villagers are joining the scheme regularly - don't miss out - join now! . Contact details have been circulated around the village or you can leave an email request here: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have ANY questions that you believe the Police could answer, they have provided a new website to help make Lincolnshire the Safest County in England!

A MESSAGE FOR THE HOUSEHOLDER
Most callers are probably quite genuine, but there are some who are out to steal or 'con' you out of your money. STOP! Chain the door before you open it! If in doubt, keep them out and ring 999
Tell them: You do NOT buy from or sell to callers at the door.
Ask: If you are on official business please show your identity card and state your reason for calling.
Say: It may be necessary for you to make a written appointment and call back at a time convenient to me.
