TALLINGTON Church Flowers 7th/14th March - Lent 21st/28th March - Lent
There will be no Four O'Clock Service in March, as it is Mothering Sunday, and many people will be visiting mothers and grandmothers in the afternoon. Instead, you are invited to come to a family service for Mothering Sunday 10.30am at Tallington Church when we'll be blessing and giving out bunches of flowers. The Four O'Clock Service will be back on the 11th April.
WELLAND MOTHERS' UNION Welland Mothers' Union is open to everyone in the Uffington Group. This month we are having a quiet afternoon led by Revd Batty in Tallington Church. Anyone who is interested is welcome. Next meeting - 2pm Monday 15th March at Tallington Church.
VILLAGE HALL
200 Club JanuaryWinners. No 34 Mr Michael Machin £15; No 53 Mr Peter Healy £10; No 42 Mrs Joan Neale £5. When it was first set up the 200 Club had 160 members. Unfortunately since then the number has gone down a little - usually because people have moved to other areas. If you are not a member and would like to support your Village Hall and Playing Field (£12 per year) please 'phone Liz or John Allen (740076) who will be delighted to send someone round to collect your money! Their collectors are not very good at hassling new neighbours but they will be delighted to add you to their lists. A draw takes place on a monthly basis at the Social Evenings with two grand draws in June and December when the winnings are £50, £25 and £10.
Parish Council: Please try to come to the next Parish Council Meeting which will be held on Tuesday 16th March at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Remember there is always an open forum when questions will be taken from the floor. Council website: http//parishes.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Tallington
Please remember that social evenings take place in the Village Hall on the last Friday of each month from 7pm when a warm welcome awaits you.
March Social Evening will be held in the Village Hall at 7.00pm onwards as usual on Friday 26th March. Despite the very cold evening in February quite a number ventured out and thoroughly enjoyed the warming soups on offer.
CALLCONNECT & CALLCONNECT PLUS
Lincolnshire County Council has announced a bus service "CallConnect," serving Bourne and the surrounding villages (including the five mentioned above and now "CallConnect PLUS" for Uffington or Tallington!).
The service operates Monday to Saturday (07:00 to 19:00) in response to pre-booked requests (on a "dial-a-bus" basis), and will pick up and set down at designated locations in the villages and towns served (including providing access to Bourne and Market Deeping, and NOW Stamford). CallConnect does not usually operate on routes where local bus services are already in operation except at times when there are no buses.
Anyone can use the service for any purpose (eg shopping, medical appointments, work, training etc). Users need first to register details with the Booking Centre (by phone or internet), after which journeys can be booked, again with the Booking Centre. Bookings are subject to availability (on a first come first served basis) and can be booked up to seven days in advance; same day bookings need at least two hours notice.
Tickets are purchased from the driver, and fares vary depending on the length of journey. Concessionary bus passes (available to those over 60 and to disabled people) are valid on all CallConnect services, giving free travel to the pass holder after 09:30 on Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays.
The Booking Centre (0845 234 3344 - local call rate) is open Monday to Friday (08:30 to 17:00) and Saturday (09:00 to 15:00); bookings may also be made at anytime via the website www.lincsinterconnect.com
